Dual Faced People; So Called Born Muslims!
So it happened that I was surfing through YouTube when I came across a Korean Muslim Revert Daud Kim. He was a singer, you tuber when he went to Indonesia for his concert and the lifestyle of Muslims there impressed him to the extend that he started studying Islam and eventually he embraced Islam. Then onwards he started making Islamic videos and also went on to visit Muslim countries to look at their lifestyles and learn more about Islam. He also built a mosque in Korea to provide a pray place for the Muslims.
Everything was ok till now. Then started the ugly truth. He was married before and had a son. They split for God knows what reason but he started getting backlash and hatred for that reason, calling him an irresponsible father and what not! Then his pre-Muslim era photos were leaked on the internet calling him a fake Muslim. A group of girls tried to accuse him of r*** and what not! Afterwards donation scandal appeared calling him a fake Muslim and a person using Islam for views and money. He tried clarifying that times and again but to no avail. Meanwhile his popularity kept increasing.
Do you know what is the worst part in all this debacle. Majority of the accusers were born Muslims who couldn't tolerate a newbie who was better than them! What a shame! All of them were acting like the guardians and protectors of Islam and as if they have never even missed a Salah or done something wrong. And if you look closely, a major chunk among them were also doing it for views and money. When you cant support a person doing good, at least don't create hurdles in their way. Nobody can understand the struggle of someone who goes against the norms of a society he lives in. He loses friends, family and everything.
Korea is a society where fitting Islam into their lives is very tough. Majority of the people living there are either Atheists or Christians. Religion has no place in their culture. They are a competitive society where losers are those who cant keep up with the pace of the society. They regularly eat p*** and finding halal food is a gruesome task there. Also there are very few Muslims and from what I have known after keenly studying their lives over the internet, they are westernized and think that Muslims are te***rists. So even if we believe those haters, he is using a very hard way to earn money and I believe no one does. Even if this is his way, he is doing us and others a huge favor as honestly speaking, his videos refreshed my Imaan and it must have made others to embrace Islam.
His content is also never questionable. He tries to inculcate Islamic things in his videos. The most important thing is who gave us the right to judge him? Are we better Muslims ourselves that we can question others' believes? It is prohibited in Islam. So technically all the haters are to be condemned instead of him. I have never met him or talked to him but he videos left an ever lasting and pleasant impression on me. Lately I have been impressed with Korean culture and used to watch Korean dramas and movies non-stop to get rid of the stress in my life but his videos changed my perspective. I am more inclined towards religion now. All this happened from 2009-2023 and I haven't seen many videos of him so far afterwards which shows that he succumbed to pressure and stopped you tubing which is a loss for the Muslims but seeing one or two videos of him still on the path of Islam made me sigh in relief at despite of all the mistreatment by the Muslims, he never converted back. This shows his resolve and how wrong those people were who maltreated him.
Speaking of which I want to
narrate a personal incidence. So it happened when I went to high school. We
used to have co-education in primary school and later in high school, separate
girls and boys schools were there. So it was a big change that made me realize
there is some stratification in the society. In Islamic studies classes, we
also read about hijab and stuff. So I became interested in it. Let me
clarify here that I belong to a moderate household; neither too modern nor too
radical and fundamentalists so I was allowed to choose whatever my heart likes,
except for becoming an atheist…Lolz.. So
I started to cover my head using a scarf. That broke chaos everywhere, though
it wasn’t that serious of an issue. First of all, I was mocked by my class
fellows and teachers (a few not all). They said what made you become so shareef suddenly? Because I had short
hair at that time. Some even said that I became bald so I want to hide it.
People even pulled my scarf from behind to check if I was bald or not! This was
extremely embarrassing as well as emotionally damaging. I kept my courage
mustered for a whole year but then gave in. I just couldn’t take it anymore. So
I stopped taking it and created an aversion to it.
I don't know if my post will ever reach him or not, but I want to say sorry on behalf of those so-called Muslims who did this to him and I want to congratulate him for staying put because honestly I would never had if such a situation arose in my life.
